In the Indian context, the use of female condoms is still not widely accepted or appreciated, despite the potential consequences of unsafe sex, including unintended pregnancies and HIV/AIDS.
Despite the existence of female condoms, it is puzzling that many women are not taking advantage of them to protect themselves. This inspired me to undertake a project to understand the reasons behind this and develop ways to increase awareness and encourage the use of female condoms.

Misconception 1
Female condoms are difficult to use–
While they may take a little practice, female condoms are easy to use once you're familiar with the insertion process, similar to learning how to use tampons or male condoms.Misconception 2
Female condoms are uncomfortable– Female condoms are made from soft, flexible materials designed for comfort during intercourse, and many users report that they are barely noticeable when properly inserted.
Misconception 3
Female condoms are less effective than male condoms– Female condoms are just as effective as male condoms when used correctly, providing up to 95% protection against pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Misconception 4
Female condoms need to be combined with a male condom– Using both a female condom and a male condom together is not recommended, as this can increase the chance of breakage due to friction between the two barriers.
Misconception 5
Female condoms reduce pleasure– Many users find that female condoms can enhance pleasure, as they allow for greater sensation and more control, with the outer ring stimulating the external genitalia.
